What happened in Top hole:
The MWD/LWD SLB engineer started working and programming the BHA but sturggled to program it. It was several errors in the software for programming the BHA since it’s new and the MWD/LWD engineer couldn’t program it. A back-up BHA was sent all the way from Stavanger in express speed.

What Was Planned

Planned to drill 36″ x 42″ hole with a prototype 36″ x 42″ BHA. A prototype BHA, which has never been used in field in Norway before, was planned to be used. No back-up was ordered/delivered.

What Was Learned

If a prototype BHA is going be used it is critical to at least have a back-up available nearby.

What Actions Are Required

Order back-up BHA if critical.

What Was Done

After a while of testing and locating the error, the MWD/LWD engineer managed to program the 36″ x 42″ BHA. But if the BHA would work in the end, the rig would go on NPT for roughly 10-12 hrs.
